Custom Auto-Focusing 5W UV Laser Marking Machine Shipped Today to Turkish Automotive Shock Spring Manufacturer
Today, we delivered a customized autofocus UV laser marking machine to a major automotive shock spring manufacturer in Turkey, enabling them to flexibly mark a wide range of shock springs for superior total quality management.
The customer needed to mark QR codes and serial numbers on hundreds of types of shock springs used in cars, motorcycles, trucks, fire trucks, and other large construction vehicles. The customer was not satisfied with the marking and paint stripping quality of the standard fiber marking machine, and the time-consuming focus adjustment after manual loading made it difficult to increase the defective product rate and efficiency. We recommended a desktop laser marker with autofocus and simple spring-loaded tools that can be adjusted according to the marking preview to complete the marking task by pressing the foot pedal.
Instead of using a fiber laser, which is more common in the industry, we used a UV laser for this machine, mainly to sharpen the edges of the QR code. Due to the uneven curved surface of the springs, the customer chose to use the UV laser for the marking process to maximize the scanability of the QR code marking and minimize the amount of rework after a third party testing agency evaluated our samples using fiber, MOPA fiber and UV paint stripping, and after ongoing communication with the customer’s engineers. Because the customer’s springs are marked with polished and plated layers of paint, using the UV laser for the cold process also eliminates the uneven heat that can lead to poor appearance when marking uneven surfaces with a fiber laser.
Through stripping samples of various sizes of springs from the customer, the customer was very satisfied with the flexible and simple cost-effective laser marking program, and signed the contract on the same day of sampling and operation demonstration by the sales staff and technicians.
